4-Day Underwater Photography Course
This four day photography course is perfect for those looking to dive into the world of underwater photography, or for keen photographers wanting to further develop their skills shooting images in the marine environment. Following daily, morning classroom sessions that take a detailed look into the art of underwater photography techniques, each day includes two dives where students will practice skills aimed at mastering composition, lighting and exposure for a variety of different underwater image types. Students will gain experience using underwater strobes and different lenses, allowing them to practice shooting a range of shots within macro, portrait, close-focus wide angle, and large scene environments. Each aftemoon will include an image review session - a key element for building on skills for the following day, as well as detailed sessions on post-production editing, using the most up to date software. All photography equipment is included for the duration of the course, making this course accessible to all.
1-Month Underwater Wildlife Photography Internship
This unique underwater wildlife photography internship offers the perfect opportunity for wildlife, ocean, diving or photography enthusiasts to master the world of underwater photography. As a passionate marine biologist, and award winning underwater photographer, program leader Piers Baillie will provide interns with the knowledge, skills and techniques used to capture underwater images. His ongoing research and scientific background in animal behaviour and conservation will help interns gather a unique collection of shots. Sharing with them the biology and ecology of the animals and subjects captured behind the lens, this will also develop the narrative of each picture, adding power to the images, and helping to raise awareness of the marine world.
Over the period of 1 month, interns will participate in several underwater workshops, practising how to master composition, lighting and exposure of underwater images. They will develop skills in shooting a range of subjects, using different techniques - covering macro, close-focus wide angle, night, blackwater, animal behaviour, and wide scene photography.
As all underwater photography equipment is provided for the program duration, interns will have the opportunity to use their skills to capture images of the abundant and diverse marine life found living around Koh Tao. Whilst completing up to 40 dives, interns will build up an extensive underwater wildlife portfolio. During this time, they will have regular 1-1 image review sessions with Piers, which will help fine tune the skills required to achieve the perfect shot. These sessions will also include work-flow tips, and post-production training for editing shots in the studio after dives.
